Embassy Suites® San Marcos – Hotel & Conference Center Under Construction Introduces Director of Sales at Topping Off Ceremony

Hotel, Conference Center Now Accepting Reservations in Advance of Fall 2008 Opening

SAN MARCOS, Texas, and SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Nov. 9, 2007 – John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts (www.jqhhotels.com) announced that Ruth Buck has been named the director of sales for the new Embassy Suites® San Marcos – Hotel & Conference Center expected to open in fall 2008. The announcement was made recently at a topping-off ceremony to celebrate the completion of the highest structural point of the 10-story, 283-suite hotel currently under development. The hotel and conference center’s new sales office is now open on location at I-35 and McCarty Lane, eight miles from Texas State University, and is accepting reservations in advance of the hotel’s opening.

The hotel and conference center will be owned by Mr. John Q. Hammons and managed by Springfield, Mo.-based John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts, the nation’s leading independent builder, developer, owner and manager of upscale, full-service hotels, resorts and suites. The conference center will be owned by the city and managed by John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts.

In her new role, Buck will oversee the events and catering operations, generate new business opportunities, and lead the marketing and sales efforts. A 20-year veteran in the hospitality industry, Buck has spent most of her career in the Austin/San Antonio area and more than six years with the Embassy Suites brand.

With more than 77,300 gross square feet and 40,000 net square feet of meeting space, the $50 million property and $21 million city conference center will be the first of their kind on San Marcos. The facilities were designed to accommodate a wide range of conferences, from auto and boat shows to high tech exhibitions, graduations, special events and business meetings.

Strategically located between the state capital Austin and the historic San Antonio, San Marcos is the third most popular tourist destination in Texas. San Marcos is home to Texas State University, student population 27,500, and is well known as for its superior shopping and boasts the best outlet mall shopping in the Southwest.
