John Q. Hammons’ Embassy Suites Charlotte – Concord Shares Donation With Its Haiti Project Collaborators
Charlotte/Concord, N.C. – July 2, 2012 – John Q. Hammons’ Embassy Suites Charlotte – Concord/Golf Resort & Spa in North Carolina recently received $5,000 as recipient of the Embassy Suites Hotels “I Can Make A Difference” award in recognition of the hotel’s community outreach Haiti Project. The 308-suite golf resort, spa and 80,000-square-foot conference center elected to share award proceeds with two organizations it collaborated with to repurpose donated high quality hotel pillowcases into girls’ dresses for charitable disbursement in Haiti. Embassy Suites Charlotte – Concord is operated by Springfield, Mo.-based John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts, the largest private, independent owner and manager of hotels in the United States.
The Eco Carolinas Certified “champion” hotel divided the donation between OFCB Ministries in Haiti and Greater Providence Baptist Church in Charlotte, which plans to use the funds to kick off a seniors-focus initiative. OFCB Ministries in Haiti looks to support a local school with its $2,500 gift.
“It is so rewarding to see how simple gestures like repurposing hotel pillowcases can make such a big difference in so many lives,” said Terry Crawford, general manager of Embassy Suites Charlotte – Concord/Golf Resort & Spa. “We feel fortunate to be a part of such a collaborative community and look forward to continuing to find ways to lend a hand up.”
